Unforgettable Journey Through Flores and Kupang

After 4 days of being overwhelmed with the beauty of Komodo National Park, We continued our journey to some of the amazing attractions in Flores. Another amazing experience to complete our adventure to the beautiful Flores Island. From Labuan Bajo, I shared with some other friends a private transport heading to Ruteng as the base point before we continue to the next destination. I arrived in Ruteng city in the evening and we got ourselves checked in the hotel. 

We were so excited since we got a chance to try the public transport as it is the cheapest way to get Denge Village (the last point to start the trekking). After 4 hours of the bumpy road, we reached Denge in the afternoon. We right away started the trekking going through the jungle, some up and down road, magnificent views, and we were just beyond excited when we realized that we just arrived in the beautiful village that is surrounded by the mountain. We had 2 days and 1 night being there, from the unbelievable night with a sky full of stars, until the breathtaking morning views with the sun rays elegantly rose up behind the hills. We also acknowledged The Unique Traditional Village named Bena, a fascinating small traditional village with the smiley locals and the view of Mt. Inerie is the great background of this village. 

We suddenly (literally) lived like a local when we decided Waturaka Village as our stay in Moni, we stayed in the local houses, we ate what they eat, and we just got blended with them. The people there are super welcome and I felt like home indeed. And the last thing but not least on this journey was witnessing the mesmerizing sunrise over the top of Mt. Kelimutu and it was really unforgettable. 

And finally, we flew out from Ende to Kupang to visit some of the attractions there as well, and also as our relaxation after more than 10 days full of exploration. When we were in Kupang, we visited the ancient cave which has the super crystal clear water inside, it was a great experience to just dip down my body in the middle of a hot day in Kupang and I also enjoyed the nice sunset at Lasiana beach to finalize my trip.

These experiences will last forever in my mind and memories. Flores island is beyond my imagination, this island is filled with the beautiful natural scenery, the most heartwarming smile and also the people’s kindness. I’ll be remembering every single thing that happened along the journey. It was truly the dream that came to reality. And I absolutely want to come back there again soon or just to try to wander another part of Indonesia or even this globe.
